Looking for Henry James Naldrett born 1874 in London
son of Allen Naldrett 1844 and Jane Chase 1846.
I have him in all the census except 1901 which is why I am asking
for suggestions on where to go.
He had just lost his wife Margaret Ellen Holsey.
I cannot find him at all in 1901.

Yes he had children with children with Margaret Ellen Holsey.
They were Allen Edward Naldrett born 1898 and Doris born 1900.
Margaret died I believe before the census in 1901.
Doris was with her Aunt and Uncle in Hatfield in 1901.
Allen Edward Naldrett cannot find in the 1901 census.
He and his sister Doris are with there Grandparents in 1911 in St. Pancrs.

Singleton men can be harder to find on censuses and are the most likely to escape being enumerated but as Suz says it is possible he volunteered for the Boer War or was called up as an army reservist. Did he register his wife's death?

It was Gertrude Naldrett nee Blanchard he married in 1906
The young widow of his Uncle Allen.

Hi all H. J. Naldrett seekers.
I have a little knowledge of this man, he was my great grandfather, father of Doris, my maternal grandmother. I understood from my grandmother that he was a ships engineer, a prominent Freemason, was decorated and awarded the Freedom of the City of London. Would love to hear any other information on him.

Found Edward and Gertrude in the 1901 census.
Ancestry have the name by as Waldieth

Doris had a brother Allen who died when he was very young. Are you related in any way to the family?
I do not recognise the names in your last post. Henry had two daughters from his second marriage, Joan and Peggy (I think possibly Margaret) both of whom had families of their own. Doris had two children a daughter (my mother) Jean Margaret and a son Martin Cambell.
-
Peter Naldrett being the son of Allen Edward Naldett and Rose Mary Enticknap.
Allen Edward had a brother Henry who died very young his Mother Margaret Holsey also
died that year.
He had a Sister Doris who married a Richard Newman.
Is this ringing any bells with you.

Hi,
Bells ringing loud and clear....Doris and Richard Newman are my maternal grandparents, I have met Uncle Peter and Aunt Olive many times, the last being at a garden centre near Farnham, Surrey with my mother. I believe he is/was an accountant/bookkeeper, he is/was a lovely man. I remember his mother from when I was a child, between you and me she was nicknamed 'Lady Rolls'!!! (Doris, my grandmother was a wonderful woman and we shared an amazing karma together). I never met either of their (Pete and Olive) sons. This is very exciting as I have been told many tales of Henry James and it is great to tie up the threads. Look forward to your next post. There is of course the other branch to the family from Henry's second marriage.

Sorry - not been on this sight for ages (obviously!) - have you resolved this issue or are you still searching, if so I can probably help (i'm a Naldrett with a comprehensive family tree).
-
Hi,
Well you are not only one who has not been on the site recently, gosh how time flies!!!
Many thanks for the family tree....very interesting, how do I add my line......the tree clearly needs
updating as there is nothing from my grandparents (the birth of my grandmother Doris Newman nee Naldrett onwards)
Thanks again, might be fun to have a meetup if you are interested????
Best wishes,
Jacqui Kuipers (Mrs)
PS I have four generations to add !!! and I will get a copy of my grandparents photo for you.

Hi Jacqui - afraid the passage of time has erased my full recollection of what family tree I showed you! If it was a My Heritage one then it's pretty truncated. My main tree is on Ancestry and on which Doris and her daughter Jean are reported - along with a good deal of forebears. Helpful if you could remind me of what I showed you and how far back you'd like to trace, and then happy to help as far as I can.
Best Regards
