Hello Teresa1  :)

What was Mary's address on her marriage certificates please?

I've found a possibility: Mary Thomas age 21, Lodger, Labourer, at Temple Street, Llangynwyd, Glamorgan, Wales on 1851. On the same page there is a Thomas family which could be connected - Thomas and Gwenllian Thomas.
Thomas Thomas age 51 Collier
Gwenllian Thomas age 60
Sarah Thomas age 28 Labourer (Iron works?)
David Thomas age 18 Collier

Hi Teresa1

.... on the marriage cert Mary father is a Blocklayer Thomas Thomas
There are several different types of block layer, including one at colliery  :)

Definition of blocklayer (colliery): fixes small blocks or wooden keys for tightening rails on tramways in coal mine, using a hammer

so this Thomas is still a possibility, but I'll have another look in Llangynwyd  :)

Kind Regards
Morgan

Hi if Mary was 30 in 1861 with a father whose occupation was a Blocklayer, then this looks like her in 1851:-

Thomas Thomas 59 Widower occ Blocklayer b Llanfair Cam,
Mary Daughter 20 occ House Keeper b Llandinga
Margaret Daughter 17 b Llandinga
Residing at Cae Hopkin, Bedwelty
Census Ref HO107/2448/535/13

mary thomas born maesteg to Thomas Thomas on the 1861 census as Mary Treharne stated 30 years.

Don't think that's her keyboard because Mary was born Maesteg.

Her marriages to William Reynolds in 1851 and to William Treharne in 1859 took place in Bridgend district.

If that is the correct family, there is an IGI submitted record for birth around 1830 of Mary Thomas, daughter of Thomas Thomas and Gwenllian Leyshon of Llangynwyd.

The submitter is from Stuart, Florida and contact details are on the LDS site:

http://www.familysearch.org/eng/default.asp

Freereg has the marriage of Gwenllian Leyshon and Thomas Thomas at St John Evangelist, Cilybebyll, Glamorgan on 20th Nov 1819

Some information about Llangynwyd:

http://www.genuki.org.uk/big/wal/GLA/Llangynwyd/

Byw Treharne Treharne (father of William) and family were in Cwmdu hamlet of Llangynwyd in 1841 so definitely the right area  :)
