I'm stuck. I can't find James Walton on the 1901 census.
In 1881, he was living at Coppice Cottage, Willaston near Nantwch with his wife Elizabeth (born in Northwich) and his daughter Clara. He was born in Bunbury, Cheshire and was a railway clerk and aged 45. The family were at the same address in 1891.

Hi, Jayson, couldn't find him on the 1901 but there are a couple of 'possible' deaths on freebmd. Unless of course you already know the dates of death.
March 1897 James 8a 249 Nantwich aged 60
December 1897 Elizabeth 8a 228 aged 60
ages are not an exact match but it would depend on the informant.
There are two 'possible' Clara Walton's working in Crewe on the 1901. Are you interested in these details or was she married by this time?

Hi Kath
Many thanks for looking.
He may well have died because in 1906 Robert Rainford Edleston was living at that address. So I'll check the local papers and hopefully I might find an obituary or something.
Their daughter, Clara, was married in 1891.
Very many thanks - Jayson ;)

Hi Jayson,
Looks like it is your James Walton who died in 1897.
Probate register:
James Walton of Willaston, died 16 June 1897, probate granted 22 July 1897 at London to Elizabeth his widow, £127-17-8.

Hi Jayson
I am just getting back into family tree after a ten year break!
Came across your reference to james Walton & his daughter Clara J R.
I would be very interested to find out what data you have re this family and in particular whether James is the same James staying with William Woolley in 1851.
If he is, then I would especially love to know if you know by what route he is a cousin of William Woolley.
regards
Peter

Hello Peter
Thank you so much for your reply re James Walton.
I'm not actually connected to James Walton so sadly I haven't got anything relevant which would help with regard to your query.
I'm researching the various farms/tenements which formed part of the Willaston Hall estate near Nantwich owned by the Bayley family. James Walton rented Coppice Cottage on the corner of Coppice Road very near to Willaston Hall for a number of years.
James and his wife, Elizabeth, both died in 1897, and are buried in the cemetery at White House, Lane, Nantwich. Their daughter Clara is also buried in the same plot which is marked by a very large headstone.
Yours
Jayson

Hullo Jayson, am new to this site so hope it is OK to butt in....basically as Dorothy Bayley's grand daughter I would be most interested to hear anything you know about the Bayley family. I gather from your posts that we have a common ancestor. Yours Bethone
