Trying to trace John Davidson of 1890- 53 Seaforde Street, 1892- 36 Ribble Street, 1900 - Springfield Terrace, and later on Riga Street. He was married in 1888 at St. Annes Cathedral and on the certificate gives his address as 47 Grove Street. I know his father is also named John and his trade is given as "Publican" on his son's marriage certificate. Any help would be great.
To clarify the above; I'm am trying to trace John Davidson the "Publican" and would also like to know what is the occupation "Publican" mean?? ???

Sorry can't check any directories/census, but wondered if the three Davidsons at 34 Riga Street in 1912 might be yours? Their names being Annie, Walter and John.
These people signed the Ulster Covenant/Declaration in 1912. Original copies of same with their actual signatures can be seen at:

Just type in Davidson at surname and Riga at address and leave rest blank. Then hit search. Should list above noted folks and you can then view each entry in turn.

Thank you Scotmum :D :D :D Walter is my grandfather, and John and Annie are his parents.

Hello Dean,
It appears no one has replied to your query about John's occupation. A Publican is the keeper of an inn or public house; one licensed to retail beer, spirits, or wine.
I had a look at the Belfast section of the 1880 Directory of Belfast and the Province of Ulster which is on the Lennon Wylie website. There's no listing for John Davidson, publican in that directory or the one for 1861.
