Looking at a tree on Ancestry, this is his wife Elizabeth and daughter Frances. Any of the Victorian birth certs for their later children should give you Armstrong and Eliza's marriage and birth details.
Some info about the Arawa's journey

Deborah thanks very much , this seems to clear up alot of things - does it ever say what Elizabeth's maiden name was on the tree?

I am not sure whether you are interested in other aspects of the family, but there is a digitised WW1 records for a son of ARMSTRONG named HENRY EDWIN HAMILTON.
He enlisted aged 19 years in 1916 and was Plumber.
His father is his next of Kin with the Inkerman Rd address given above.
He states mother deceased.
A later copy of his attestation form shows NOK has changed to wife, Mrs Hamilton of Nyah

Elizabeth's maiden surname was apparently McMILLEN/McMILLAN and they were from Belfast in Ireland. The tree does not have any marriage details, but the Irish civil registration indexes are free to search on FamilySearch
https://www.familysearch.org/
The indexes do not give name of spouse but there are two matching entries for these names:
Armstrong HAMILTON
Elizabeth McMILLAN

You would of course need to confirm this with documentation. The tree has Elizabeth's death at St Kilda in 1911, and Armstrong at Elsternwick in 1932.

In the TROVE online newspaper we see a surprising article about how Armstrong was knocked down by a truck - while he was cycling. This was in 1929. This is very fascinating- but sad at the same time.
