Title: Richard Morrison b. 1882, Ireland; > Quebec, 1911
Post by: rickpat on Wednesday 19 January 11 15:59 GMT (UK)
Greetings,

I am trying to learn more about my great uncle, Richard Morrison, b. 1882, Portadown, Co. Armagh, Northern Ireland to Thomas and Elizabeth (Vaughan) Morrison.

A record of his border crossing from Canada to Niagara Falls, NY for a temporary stay indicates that he arrived in Quebec on 12 June 1911 aboard the SS Scotian.

I have found the passenger list for the Scotian. I have also found a Richard Morrison on the Toronto Directories for 1912 and 1918 which indicate he was employed as a sales clerk for T. Eaton's & Co.

I would like to find a marriage and/or death certificate as well as an info about children.

Richard had several brothers; I have been able to find nothing on George Morrison, b. 1871 in Portadown (Derryhale) and wonder if he also went to Canada.

Could this be George in the 1901 Irish census:

Hi,

Thank you very much!  I can safely assume that it is George on the 1901 Census...and the James who is listed as HOH?  That would be my grandfather a year before he made his first trip to the States.  I thought I had fully explored the '01 & '11 Census.   Guess I better double check.

Thanks again,
Richard
