Henry Hole, b.1818 'Tansley,Matlock'. There are 2 Henry Holes born in 1818 in the same area. One is the son of George and Ann Hole and became a shoemaker, living and working all his life around Ashover. I am sure they are related, but the Henry I'm researching moved to the Langley Mill/Eastwood area where he worked as a miner. He was married to Hannah, (Holmes). Anyone know the name of my Henry's parents please. I can't find him anywhere on the 1841 census

Hello JudyF,
This may be your Henry in the 1841 Census, he would have been aged abt 23, however due
to the rounding down of aged in this census is shown as aged 20:-
1841 HO107/195 Book 27 Folio 4 Pg 2
Normanton Woodhead, South Normanton, Derbyshire
Sims Thomas 25 Farmer
" Daniel 20 Ag. Lab
HOLE HENRY 20 Ag. Lab
Green Thomas 9 Ag. Lab
All born Derbys
At this stage he is working in Agriculture however South Normanton was a mining village so
perhaps he changed occupations.

Thanks for all the info. It is all fresh and I will certainly pursue it further. Henry must be somewhere in 1841 and must have had parents. many thanks.

Hello Judy,
Have taken look at the Census Entries for Henry Hole, he gives his place of birth
as Matlock, which would tie in with the Bpt. of Henry Hole son of Sarah Hole born 22.12.1818,
Bpt Matlock 10.1.1819.
There is little chance you will ever discover the Father of either Henry or Daniel, unless there
is an entry in the Overseers Records, held at County Record Office, Matlock.
Some of these have been transcribed, not yours, and appear on:-

Hi JudyF
I believe that you posted on a message on the Notts board back in 09 when I was researching this family (Topic #409223) and that we exchanged some info by private message though I can only find a few notes I made at the time
We have a common connection to this family
Henry Hole that you need is indeed the one in 1818 with mother Sarah so I doubt we'll ever find out who his father was
Son John I believe is your family line, my connection is through his brother Harry who married one of my Pickards
I also posted on the Derbys board to find info on mother Sarah and found more or less what has been found for you here on this thread - she did marry Thomas Strange
Daniel Hole married lydia young in 1847 and he was in Yorkshire for the rest of his life, married again after Lydia died
If you need to exhange any more info just send me a personal message by clicking on the little icon at the side of the message
