The never ending story of "who am I?"
Hi everyone. My gr gr gr grandmother Janet Allan was born around 1829 to James Allan and Janet Lawson supposedly in Auchterarder. Of course I can find NO record of the marriage or her birth in Auchterarder.
I can't find a record of her dad's death, but I did so for her mother, Jane. Jane Lawson Allan died in 1863 aged 79 in Auchterarder; so she was circa 1784. She was listed as being the widow of James Allan and her parents had been John Lawson a farmer and Agnes Lawson (yes, same maiden name listed on DC).
Anyone out there searching for the elusive Allan's or the Lawsons?

Hi Linda,
I don't have Allan or Lawson in my family. Just looking as a volunteer. I tried to search for a marriage record but couldn't find anything. There must be a Marriage Record Book out there somewhere for Auchterarder . (A library? University?)
You wrote about James and Janet. In case you didn't have them in the 1841 census, this should be them. (I hope). Janet Allan's birth year is just off by one year from what you had. In looking at the area I noticed surname Allan could be spelled Allane and Lawson could be spelled Lauson.
Regards & good luck!
