Title: Lashmar Baptism Record
Post by: lashmar on Sunday 16 January 11 13:39 GMT (UK)
Way back in 2007 I asked if anyone could find a baptism for me of:

James LASHMAR abt. 1775 in West Grinstead, Sussex
and his son
James LASHMAR abt. 1801 in Twineham, Sussex

I posted the request on another site and someone said they had the record of James (1775) in West Grinstead with parents John and Hannah - unfortunately they never got back to me with any details.

So, knowing how amazing folk are on the Sussex boards I'm asking for help once again!
Many thanks
Regards
Kay

Kay, a Darren Gilby has a public tree on Ancestry with a James Lashmar 1776 W. Grinstead.
Looks like this James married twice.  Let me know if you want me to contact this person,

Jane

Hi Jane,

That does seem to be my James Lashmar he married twice once to a Ann Silby who died - and then to Elizabeth Terrell.  I would really appreciate it if you would contact Darren Gilbey for me.

Thank you so much
Regards
Kay

Hi Kay,
I've sent an email to Darren & another to Bob Lashmar who had the same James in his tree.  Both have not logged into Ancestry for more than 6 months so we just have to keep our fingers crossed that they receive the email  :)
If they do I'll be in touch,
Jane

Just in case they don't reply:

James Lashmer, son of James & Ann Lashmer baptised Twineham 8 Mar 1801

James Lashmere, son of JamesJohn & Hannah Lashmere baptised West Grinstead 18 Aug 1774.

Do you need siblings, marriage details etc?

Nell

Jane,  many thanks for your help, I'll keep my fingers crossed!

Nell,
Thank you for the baptism dates, I have the marriage details of the two James
but if you have the one for John and Hannah (James seniors parents) that would be great.  And any siblings you have discovered.

Thank you so much

John & Hannah Lashmere also had the following children:

Sarah 18 Feb 1763
John 6 Mar 1767
Hannah 26 Dec 1770
unknown child (it's illegible) 6 Jan 1777

A John Lashmere was buried 19 Dec 1799

The banns were called in West Grinstead for a marriage between a John Lashmer & Hannah Bone 16 Dec 1759.  A marriage is recoded in Shipley on 24 December of John Lashmere of West Grinstead and Hannah Borer.

The log in date only shows when that person last logged in. If they keep the log in saved it will only show that initial date not the last date viewed. (I got firmly put in my place by a lady who I stated hadn't logged in for 2 years when in fact she was a daily user!)

Hi Kay

I've recently married into the Lashmars of Redhill, and before that Falmer. We have got back with detail as far as Thomas & Anne, married in 1854 in Belper.
We are searching for Thomas' parents James John & Sarah - who gave birth to Thomas, in Falmer (then Lewes now Brighton it seems) in 1831.

Help?

PinkAnne

James Lashmore married Sarah Grinsted 22 Aug 1825 in Shermanbury.    Both of this parish.

James and Sarah are living in Hamsey (just outside Lewes) in 1851.  If this is the right couple he is born in Twineham and there is a marriage for a James Lashmore to Ann Silsby in Twineham 30 Jan 1801 so they may be his parents.  Certainly worth keeping on the back burner.  They are also in Hamsey in 1841 and have a son Thomas, age 10 and several other children.

Hi Sillgen

Thank you for this, yes they are our ones.

The next generation back is James Lashmar who married Ann Spilsby 1801, then later married Eliza in 1810.

This James was born in West Grinstead 1775, we think his parents are John & Hannah, married in 1759. Any idea where they lived and who their parents were?

Hi Pinkanne - sorry for the delay in replying only just seen this.  James Lashmar's parents were John abt. 1734 West Grinstead and Hannah Borer abt. 1740 Sussex (not sure yet where) they married 24 Dec 1759 in Shipley and had 5 children.  Hannah's parents were Joel Borer and Hannah (unknown) they had six children most of them b. East Grinstead. James Lashmar married first Ann Silsby she died 1801 then Elizabeth Terrell 13 Oct 1810 in Cowfold.
Hope this helps let me know if there is anything specific you requjire.
Regards
Kay
