Title: bryncoch cottage homes
Post by: melingirl on Saturday 15 January 11 16:26 GMT (UK)
Hi
Does anyone have access to Bryncoch cottage homes inmates in 1933. I am trying to trace (*) born 1931 who was placed there with her brother (*) born 1929 in Pontardawe.
Thanks

First of all a very warm welcome to Rootschat.

I am not finding the birth of a (*) as she would appear in the Index, anywhere in the area in 1931.Were they the births to a single (*) girl?

Regards
William Russell Jones.

Check out the West Glamorgan Archive Service site under 'local authority records' and look under Neath Poor Law Union. They have a stack of stuff on the Bryncoch Home.

Bernard:  Do you by any chance have a link for that?  I would like to see if there is information on the Griffiths/Akerman family there.

Sorry, can't post the link - this site won't let me!

Just Google:

West Glamorgan Archive Service Bryncoch Cottage Homes

And you'll see a few links that should get you there. Note that these records are not searchable by pauper name on the web - for individual names you'd need to physically look at the admissions register for the relevant period.
