Hi,
Found this photograph in an old family album, trying to identify if this is a family member for the Salford's 1st Rose Queen 1925.
Would anyone have information that could maybe assist me.
Regards
Jan

Hi Jan,
I don't know if this will help at all, but there is a young lady in this collection of GMCRO photos who appears to be wearing the same crown and cloak!

Scroll down to "Mildred Dalley, the Rose Queen of Holy Rood Church and Day School, 1924, chosen as the queen for the Swinton Civic Procession"
I would imagine that what you really need is a lookup in a local newspaper to get her name. Rose Queen festivals are usually held in late spring/early summer aren't they?

Hi Barbara,
Thanks for your reply on this subject, unfortunately we live in Australia, and unable to check
the local papers.
Maybe there might be someone out there who lives in Manchester who might check various
things out occasionally.
Not to worry otherwise, just wondering if she was one of our family members

If your family roots originate from Salford, do you know which area or parish they lived in? The reason being that each parish church had a Rose Queen, and there were many parishes in the City cc1925. Salford Local History Library has a huge collection of old news papers going back to 1858. It's possible this photo was taken to be publish in the Salford City Reporter.
They may be able to help, you can contact them on the following link.

Or, maybe if you post on 'Look Ups' someone may be going to the library who would be willing to see if they could find out for you who is the Rose Queen in your photo.
