Many of the Phillimore marriage indexes for this part of Derbyshire are now on-line at http://www.uk-genealogy.org.uk/Registers/index.html. Unfortunately indexing them is work in progress, so you'll have to trawl through each one. I've looked at Swarkestone itself - nothing obvious there.

IGI has a William Snow and Elizabeth at Morley, 1791 - doesn't seem to fit.

Hi. This caught my attention. I was doing research on my father side who is a Collyer. And in his side of the family tree, a SNOW is there. My Father's grandfather is Thomas Snow Collyer. Thomas Snow Collyer's father is Thomas Collyer (1860 - 1935) and Jane James (1861 -1935). Then Thomas Collyer's parents are John Collyer (1828 - 1895) and Elizabeth Snow (1825 - 1894)

Elizabeth Snow's parents are Richard Snow (1795 - ?) and Sarah Snow (1792 - 1872). I only have upto there. Could it be that your Snow is related to Elizabeth or maybe Richard? That's about the only thing I have in my research. My Collyer's are from Melbourne by the way. So it might be that the Snow's are also from there? Or I'm not really sure. This is quite interesting.

Hi burritopasta,
1851 census Richard and Sarah Snow have at home Eliza born c 1830, Melbourne, Derbys;
Christening IGI Extracted;
Eliza SNOW, 31 May 1829, Wesleyan, Melbourne, Derby, England
Birth 11 May 1829
Parents;
Richard SNOW
Sarah HENSON
+ WILLIAM, Christened 26 Jan 1825, birth 02 Dec 1824

They Married 13 November 1821, Melbourne, Derby.
Are you positive her Father was Richard?
Did you get his name and occp from her Marriage Cert.?

I only say this as there is more than 1 Richard Snow around (another Married to Mary)  and I cant find Elizabeths Christening.

Trish :)

Meercat, it would be a great help if you lend me a hand with the Snows. Thanks :D

Trish, I'm not too sure. I only got a copy of the Collyer family tree and my great great great grand mother from the Collyer side is Elizabeth Snow. A fellow Collyer who I met here in rootschat has a family tree and it happened that he's a relative. He's my father's cousin and he told me stories about my grand father so I'm pretty sure that he is a relative. :) Anyway he was the one who gave me a copy of his tree and according to his records, Elizabeth's parents were Richard Snow (1795- ?) and Sarah Snow (1792 - 1872) I don't know her former surname. I also don't know what their jobs were or where they got married and what year. This is where I'm getting help. Thanks for the info you found. I can't get my hands on those since my mum won't let me use her credit card for ancestry.com membership. I can't see other trees and infos. I have to graduate soon and get a job. lol.

Well here's something other people posted in my thread before when I was doing my research on the Collyers.

Marriage reference for John Collyer & Elizabeth Snow:
 Sep qtr 1849 Shardlow 19 579

John Collyer (1828 - 1895) - He was a shoemaker
Elizabeth Snow (1825 - 1894)

Here they are in the 1861 census

1861 Census: Kings Newton, Melbourne, Derbys.  RG9/2489/14/21
John Collyer/Head/Mar/33/Shoemaker/K.N., Melbourne, Derbys.
Elizabeth Collyer/Wife/Mar/36/Stanton by Bridge?, Derbys.
John Collyer/Son/11/Shoe Closer/Stanton by Bridge?, Derbys.
Ann Collyer/Dau/9/Scholar/K.N., Melbourne, Derbys.
Sarah Collyer/Dau/7/Scholar/ K.N. Melbourne, Derbys.
Mary Collyer/Dau/4/Scholar/K.N. Melbourne, Derbys.
Maria Collyer/Dau/2/K.N. Melbourne, Derbys.
Thomas Collyer/Son/5 months/K.N. Melbourne, Derbys.

I don't know if this side of the family would help. There are information about what she was doing during that time. Maybe we could find links through her Children as well :)

Meercat. That's the family. But now I'm beginning to think that the info I got in my tree is wrong. Elizabeth WAS married to John Collyer. So I think her father would be John Snow. I keep searching Richard Snow and nothing appears. Maybe Richard is John's father or grandfather. Thanks. :D

@meercat
yes, I already have the tree for the Collyers. I only have up to Samuel Collyer's parents who are Samuel Collyer and Hannah Collyer. Samuel (Sam's father) is also a shoemaker. I think they were a family of shoemakers before becoming gardeners/farmers. Thanks
