Title: Thornalley
Post by: wimpsy on Wednesday 12 January 11 20:32 GMT (UK)
According to the 1841 census of Stickney Lincolnshire. John Thornalley had two sons twins I believe Charles and Parker.  The twins were about 20 years old. Can you find information of their  birth?thanks so much

Hi  the 1841 census records:

Ages of those over 20 were rounded down to the nearest 5 years, therefore a person age 44 would be shown as aged 40. Those under 20 years of age were recorded with their proper age.

this could mean that 2 people aged 20 on the census were not necessarly twins.

freereg has the stickney records and lists 25 baptisms in total - so worth a look. also on the pilot site are a couple of children to John & mary

Thanks again.  I went on freereg. but there was no Stickney under Lincolnshire.  I have a tree in Ancestry .co .uk. and I have John married to Mary Melson.  I also have a son called John Thornalley Sands.  Do you think that could be an illegitimate child, as John Thornalley did not sign his marriage certificate when he married Elizabeth Ingamells, yet when he remarried after Eliz died he signed the second marriage cert.  wimpsy

You are mistaken - there are a couple of dozen THORNALLEY baptisms at Stickney.
