Could someone please help look for The Children of John Petford baptised in Sedgley from 1821/2 to 1835
I am particularly interested in Caroline Petford 1821/2 Hannah Petford and Pheobe Petford
I beleive their mother was called Elizabeth
thank you

Hiya
You have me a bit confused because there is no way to actully look up a birthdate before 1837 when they appeared on the birth certificate or if your really lucky and they appear on the baptism record
Here is the family on the 1841 census at Woodside Dudley Worcs all b in county
John Petford 45 miner
Caterine Petford 19
Sara Ann Petford 14
Hannah Petford 11
Pheobe Petford 9
HO107 Piece 1196 Book 12
I think this is probably John in 1851 as well
Holly Hale Dudley Staffs
John Petford 66 head b Warwickshire miner
Elizabeth Petford 58 wife b Shropshire
HO107/2033 Folio 7 Page 6
Sedgley is next door to Dudley
Caroline Petford married Joseph Bailey 5.7.1841 Sedgley and there is also the marriage of John Petford father John Petford to Elizabeth Chelton father William Price on 5.7.1841 at Sedgley who is probably her brother

Hi Willow,
I was requesting a look-up of Caroline Petford's baptism in Sedgley I have the marriage of Caroline to my great great great grandfather Joseph Bailey on the same day that her father married Elizabeth Chilton the year i gave for Caroline's brith was gleaned from the marriage certificate of which i have a copy although from experiience ages recorded in that way often prove not to be entirely accurate.
I was not aware that John's father was recorded as William which is particularly useful as it allows me tie up familial links.
Thank you for the 1841 census data i do already have that in fact the only piece in the jigsaw that is missing is a record of Caroline's baptism, and those of her sisters.
thanks for replying but the request still stands

Hi Barry
Glad I found this. Your grandfather and mine must have been brothers - mine was Weldon. I have noticed we are chasing the same people exactly. The only other brother I can remember is Cliff who I often called grandad as they were so alike. Would love to be able to contact as I am sure you are much further down the tree than me looking at some of your info.

Oh and I have just noticed I thought I had replied on the James surname one as that is what it refers to when I said my grandfather was Weldon!

Hi,
Clifford James was my grandad, i have taken the James line back several generations from Clifford and Weldon but would love to swap any notes you have.
best wishes
Barry
