Title: Carlow trials
Post by: bindymac on Friday 04 June 04 13:43 BST (UK)
Hello  :)
I'm really new to this but bear with me. I am trying to find trial transcripts or like for ggg grandfather- Michael Hennessey (also spelt Hennessy). The trial occurred in Carlow. He was transprted to Australia, i think in about 1939. Any ideas about how to find out about the trial would be great

cheers Belinda :)

Hi Dianne :)
Michael Hennessy was convicted of stealing money. his trial was at Tullow, ireland. He was sentenced to 7 years transportation and came to Australia on the Larkin in 1829. he was given a ticket of leave 1833.  I know these sort of details but have been told there is a trial transcript. This is what I want to get hold of.  Do you need any other details.

many thanks Belinda

Hi Belinda,

I'm a native of Carlow and I would suggest you try writhing to Michael Purcell, Kennedy Avenue, Carlow.  This guy is extremely knowledgeable about Carlow and the history of the entire county.  He is the most likely person I can think of to guide you in the right direction if he cannot supply the information himself.

Mary.
