Title: Legerwood
Post by: susieq on Friday 07 January 11 15:02 GMT (UK)
Trying to find info on Birkhillside Mansion House, where my GG grand mother worked/lived in the mansion,  found in the 1861 census.
Described as being in good repair, the house, not her!

Cheers for any info

Susan.

have a look at http://www.geograph.org.uk/gridref/NT5642 - a photo of what could be the entrance gate.

Thanks Elma!
How come i couldn't find that site?  ;D
It has a comment on the census return that the building was in good repair, not so now it seems!

Hi Susieq,
This is what it looked like in 1840.
It looks as if its a working farm present day. Go to google earth it shown clearly in the location indicated by epfedin

Hello Susan
I descend from the Shilliglaw's of Ledgerwood. Nice to see pictures of the place.
