Have you tried the IGI, SP or the trades directory?
I do not know anything about these directories, but I do believe that there is a link to them at the front of  Scotland General. Or maybe write to the council offices, I managed to obtain copies of the Lord provosts from both Edinburgh and Glasgow in this way.
I would check sp for you but until after the 13th this month I have no credits.

Hi chrisofmelb,

Charles was born 22 Dec 1836 St Cuthberts, Edinburgh to parents William Ritchie and Margaret Brown, found on IGI as a submitted record. IGI also has marriage on an extracted record.

Did they move from Edinburgh?

Tom

Hi Marcie,

I have all the information from Scotlands People so please do not waste your credits.  I will follow up with the council offices regarding his registration as a solicitor.  Thank you for your help.
kind regards

Hi Tom,

Charles died in Kilmuir Scoonie in 1919 and his wife Grace died in Edinburgh in 1910.  Charles Ronald Ritchie his son died in Kilmuir House, Fife, in 1944.  He was a Writer to the Signet.  Thank you for your reply.  I will need to follow these leads up in the near future.

kind regards
Christine
