Looking for any records of Catherine Shearer;born abt 1853 in Belfast

To find Irish ancestors for such an early period you need to see if church records exist.
Have a look at Introduction to Irish Records (http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,442233.0.html) and My Ancestor came from Ireland - where do I start? (http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,498742.0.html).

Catherine Shearers father was William Shearer and her mother was MaryAnn Clements. I dont have D.O.B for you but her father died around 1847 in County Armagh.  Her mother died around 1845 in Belfast.

Catherine was born in May 1853 in Belfast. She married John Leonard on 30th April 1872 in Glasgow. John was born after April 1848 in Old Monkland Lanarkshire near Glasgow. They had 3 children; William, Leo and Catherine.

Catherine died on the 1st of Oct 1938 at 65, High St, Cowdenbeath, Fife.

I hope that this is helpful, if you need anything else, I am a descendant of Catherine's son, William.

Welcome to Rootschat but the dates you've posted look strange. Catherine born in 1853 but father died 'around 1847' and mother died 'around 1845'?

After posting that I also noticed this discrepancy! The dates for mother and fathers deaths were just a complete guess by my Dad....i'm not too sure where he got the numbers from. As far as I know the rest of the information is correct.

It looks as if William Shearer and Mary Ann Clements married in 1826.  See
http://www.ancestryireland.com/index.php?ai_home

No fathers given on the index, but it is worth a look for £4.  I also see a son, Andrew born 1827 to these parents on this website.

Still not sure about these dates- Catherine was born c1853 but parents married 1826? perhaps there needs to be another generation in between and William and Mary Ann are Catherine's grandparents?
Rescobie- where did you get this from? "William Shearer,dairyman/spouse-Mary Ann ms Clemens."

Catherine Shearers parents William Shearer & MaryAnn Clemens, both

I also have certificate of death for William Leonard ,June 17th  1935.
He was Catherine & Johns elder son & my great uncle.Leo emigrated to America & Catherine was my maternal  grandmother. John Leonard died
on 9th December 1909 at Woodilee Asylum age 61.He was admitted on 24th August 1880 ,my grandmother having been born on 1st of May 1880.
He remained at Woodilee Asylum until his death.
