Title: Muller family from Solingen Germany
Post by: gilleast on Thursday 06 January 11 02:31 GMT (UK)
I am looking for some help regarding Annie Barbara Muller who was born in Solingen around 1882.
She married William Robert Rundle on 26 October 1903 in Edmonton, Middlesex, England.

Anyone know of this lady or her family, either in Germany or England?

Thanks

Hi Gill,

do you have Anne's father's name from the marriage cert.?  Maybe we can find something out that way.

Hi Viv,

Her father's name was Wilhelm. On the marriage cert it says he was a mechanical engineer, but I have a UK census record from 1891 which I'm pretty sure is them, and it says he was a sword worker. He would have been born around 1860.

I think her family moved to England in the early 1880s, but they must've moved back in the 1890s, because I can't find any record of her father, mother (also called Annie) or brother (also called Wilhelm) after that.

Thanks so much for your help, I hope we can find something!

Gill.

Hi Gill,

right, have found the family on the 1891 Census.  So far, so good.  Sword worker for father's occupation as you said.

Is there anything else, albight so small, that you could tell me - I live in Hilden,
just around the corner from Solingen - could ring the archives there.

I have had a look at various websites for Solingen, among others the Batch numbers - unfortunately there are none for 1880 onwards (it stops at 1876  :( )

Ah! just a thought. Were they Catholic?

Hi Viv,

As far as I know, she wasn't Catholic, but she died before any of my living relatives were old enough to know her.

The only other thing I know is that she was working as a servant in Croydon, London, in 1901. That's everything I have, I'm afraid. Would recent information be of any use? Like when she died, the children she had, etc?

Gill.

Hi Gill,

Okay, I don't think recent information would be of much use.
At least we have a birth date, father's name and he probably worked in one of the many steel works in Solingen (a pendant to Sheffield).

Cannot promise anything, but I will try to find out something.

Hi Gill,

I haven't got around to getting to the archives in Solingen yet, but had another intensive look at various census.

I have found the following:

1901 Census RG13, 430, 116, 40

52 Dulwich Road, Lambeth, London

Nathanael G E Muller (head) Single b. 1842 Skin Merchant / German Subject
Franciska Muller (sister) single b. 1863     /  German Subject
ANNIE MULLER, NIECE single b. 1886   / German Subject
Mary George, servant b, 1874 domestic servant  /  Kent

Not sure if this is your Annie, birth date is not quite right but worth thinking about it.

1901 Census RG13, 107, 78, 44
25 Manchester Street, St. Marlebone

Annie Keough, head, single b. 1857 Lodging House Keeper, Ireland
Mary Cahill, servant, single, b. 1884, domestic servant, Norwood
William Muller, servant, single, b. 1882, domestic waiter, German Subject

Again, birth date not quite right, but also worth thinking about.

Hi Viv

A couple of years ago you sent Gill (below) some information about Annie Muller.  Annie features in a family tree I am building and wondered if you could send me the information you sent Gill.
