Title: William Elliott
Post by: amberoo on Wednesday 05 January 11 20:29 GMT (UK)
I am trying to trace a William Elliott born around 1720-1723 who had a child Christopher Elliott born in 1743 or 1744 in Stackhill, Thorneyburn Northumberland. There is a William Elliott born in Haughton in 1721 whose father was Robert but I am unable to establish if the is the correct William Elliott. Any help would be appreciated.

thanks
I have traced that Stackhill was probably a farm and not a place. There was a Christopher Elliott (father William) born at Stackhill in Jan1704. As this is the same address as the Christopher born in 1743 with father William it seems that they are from the same family but I have no information to link the two together.

Stackhill seems to have been a farm in the township of Leemailling, parish of Bellingham.

The Northumberland Farm Index database lists two places/communities/farms called Stack Hill/Stackhill.

* In the "Township" of Leemailling, within the Parish of Bellingham.

** In the "Township" of Thorneyburn, within the Parish of Thorneyburn.

( Bellingham and Thorneyburn Parishes were neighbours in an area where several parish boundaries took place in 1700/1800s)
