Title: Stoneleigh Workington
Post by: Lofty Matlot on Wednesday 05 January 11 09:46 GMT (UK)
Could any one tell me when Stoneleigh was built and what was it's
purpose. Was it a house or business premises?
I first remember it as the ARP headquarters during world war 2.

It was a house in 1881 http://tinyurl.com/322tb6a

The FLETCHERs lived somewhere else in 1871.

The only notable houses in the district in the 1871 census seem to have been the Vicarage and Thorncroft.
