Hi,
I had an ancestor who was born in Ramsgate, Kent in 1907.
He was Herbert Alphonso Lee.
He was the son of Joseph John Lee and Harriet Jane Lee (formerley Stupples).
His father died in 1914, and his mother died in 1916.
Some of the family moved to Hull - and I don't know if he initially went with them.
However, a member of the family has told me that he was part of the "Child Migration Scheme" and was sent to Canada.
I have seen on FindMyPast a couple of Herbert Lee's who migrated to Quebec in 1922.
Can anybody find out if this might be him?
Also, can anybody give me any information regarding his life in Canada?
Thanks,
Darin.

Hello Darin
Found your Herbert Alphonse Lee on the following website for Home Children
www.collectionscanada.gc.ca/genealogy/022-908.09-e.html you can try contacting them to see if they might have further information available on him. There is information on their site indicating what life was like for the home children.
I also found a passenger record for him on www.ancestorsonboard.com/static/searchtips.html it indicates that his birthdate is 1908.
I would do the lookup for you on ancestorsonboard but my credits have run out. If you do not have credits maybe someone on the Rootschat site might help you out
Lilybell.

Thanks Cathy / Lilybell,
This has helped me.
Can anybody find an obituary or maybe a marriage announcement for him?
Thanks, again,

This is a very old thread revisited but more info is now available.
You may have this info by now but better you have it twice than not. Assuming I have found the correct Herbert…
https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/92859744/herbert-alphonso-lee?
There is a newspaper article related to his visit to England. I don’t have access so can’t post a link. It mentions a daughter and 2 grandchildren but no names.
Daughter may still be living. There is a baptism in the Drouin Collection in Sutton Quebec in 1941 for a daughter. Image on Ancestry if you have access, should also be on familysearch (free). PM sent with name.
There is a marriage of a Herbert Alphonso Lee to Rosamond Miriam Kemp 22 July 1934 in Sutton Quebec. Image on Ancestry and should be on familysearch.

A photograph which may be of interest, perhaps the photo restoration board would be able to lighten for you if you haven't already seen it ? They are always nice to have to add to the story.
