If he stayed in Ontario, the BMD registrations from the time period you are referring to are protected by provincial privacy laws.

From what I can tell, Hornby is now part of Halton Hills, Ontario. If he stayed in the area then maybe the Halton Hills Library can help find an obituary or something. Here's a link to their website:

When George Freeman returned to the UK, 31 October 1931 he went to 18 Acton Street Kings Cross which was the same address which his mother Mrs E Freeman lived at in 1926.

Checked 18 Acton Street on electoral rolls - no Freeman's at any time BUT from 1925 to 1937 there was an Emily Sayer which seems too much of a coincidence given his mothers name when a George married Canada 1934.

OP knows he had a sister who he visited in WW2 - who was the sister and i.e. their parents?   I note the OP hasn't been on Rootschat since 2013!!

Reply 4 did say old thread.  Its nice to revisit these older threads, had quite a lot of success.
Can't be guaranteed but on many occasions the OP does come back !!!

There was a marriage of Emily Freeman to John  Sayer - St Pancras registered 1922 - 1b 166  ??

Back to the Freeman/Sayer marriage.  The 1935 Canada Voters List could very well refer to the year previously (it seems they do) and the marriage of Freeman/Sayer took place 1 st November 1934.

Ellen Lorraine Bryant/Freeman may have married a Lou Brill ??

Source :- Anc Tree.

It is possible that this couple had three children.  A daughter Barbara Freeman born 1937 and passed away 2013 (no source) married Donald Walter Sommerville born 1933 passed away 1975 Thornhill, York, Ontario.

Canadian Headstone Index, 1840-2017  - Donald W. Sommerville - died 23 December 1975.

Barbara might have remarried at least once, if not three times ??

Any chance of picking up an obit for that one Run Kitty ?

On the 1953 Voter list for York-Humber, Ellen Freeman, packer, is listed at the same address on Porter Avenue as Lewis Brill, driver. No one else listed at that address.

Great - RK - So Ellen perhaps uses the name Lorraine and was described as Mrs G Freeman in 1963

Initials fit but discounted Canada Voters List 1940 (doesn't fit with George revisiting his sister during the war) - Mrs E L Freeman
Marital Status Widow - Residence Place Toronto, Ontario, Canada
Electoral District Spadina  - the other names given wouldn't tie in either:- Morris Freeman TTC, W J Freeman, W G Freeman (shipper).

There is also a Canada Voters List for 1965 (so after Lorraine's father Samuel died) Lewis Brill (baker) and Mrs Ellen Brill (operator) - 440 Winona Drive. York South. Ontario.

and in 1972 Pefferlaw RR 2 - Mrs Ellen Brill (Real Estate Sales) and Lewis Brill (hydro maint) - another different occupation ??

So it appears that although they might have still been married, George Freeman and Ellen were no longer together by 1953. George Freeman could have moved elsewhere in Canada, back to England or just about anywhere, really. He doesn't appear to be on the voter's list for York area.
I wondered if daughter Barbara might have appeared on the voters list with him at an address to confirm his identity, but she married at age 20 or 21. I presume voting age was 21.
Do George and Ellen ever appear together on earlier voters lists? If not, it might indicate that their separation was much earlier.

There may be a brother Albert John Bryant - born 1923 - died 6 January 1995 Toronto.

Married to Eva Henrietta Thompson - 1927 - 8 July 2009 Toronto. Ontario.

This type of headstone is the same as the one for his father Samuel and Eleanor.
