John was my great grandfather, I have photos from the family bible that I think started with him (sorry, no earlier entry than his birth, 1848). Rosa Marshall was born the same year (?), in the bible it has her name a number of times, showing as born July 22, 1848, then there is a date, April 26th, 1863, (I'd like to know what that entry is about), then notation that she and John left London Oct 15th, 1874 for NZ, on I think on the Behria. My cousin Peter Meacheam has assembled a lot of material re the deaths on the ship, including the death of one of their children (Lilly Mary, I think). It looks to me like Rosa had a sister, Sylvia, born Dec 11, 1860. There's a note too re a Harry Marshall, died April 15(?) 1861, with a Mary Marshall dying in 1873(?).  On the same page that the departure to NZ is noted (and in the same hand), I have Frederick Marshall, Marston Lane(?) near Bath, and Mrs B Lapham, Kilman???ton, near Bath. No dates. Rosa's parents?

Next message, will try to attach pics

My father, Ken Meacheam, was a great accumulator of family history. I'll look around home to see what I can find. I'm a Kiwi, living in Oz

Was it your dad who wrote a piece of history on Dannevirke
who were his parents? I'm doing the Elizabeth Ellen Meacheam side.

My father was Ken Meacheam (died 2006). Both he and his only sibling, brother John, were good local historians and contributed to local history in Dannevirke. Their parents were John and Rosas' son William (Bill) and Rose Meacheam (a cousin, but not a blood relative, adopted, her mother was a domestic for the Comptons, Marquis of Northampton).

My time on-line is limited at the mo., but John Meacheam, born 1848, may have been the son of William Meacham (different end of name), and Mary. In the 1861 Census they are recorded, William's birthplace was Newton Longville, Mary from Bletchley, Bucks. In notes from Dad I read last night, he recalls a bible, in the front of which was written "1858, gift from the Newton Longville Baptist Church, to John Meacham". The 'eam' end to our name might be the product of John varying it.

Hope this helps. I have stacks else I might convey from notes Dad made and left with me.
