I've tried plenty of geneology sites but to no avail, this forum may have some answers for me!
In the 1871 census,I found a Silas Blackmore married to Mary (maiden name Ackland) living in Shoreditch,London.I now have a copy of his birth certificate which shows that he was born in Bishops Tawton,Devon in 1838.His Father,Richard was married to Mary (maiden name possibly Lane but hard to decipher the writing!) and worked as a dairyman. This is where I have hit a brick wall with my search. If anyone has more information,I would be over the moon.Hope I can be of help to others as well ???

There are lots of Richard Blackmores born in Devon at around the right time on the IGI. Look at the Familysearch site and go to the IGI.

Hi,
You might find the following link interesting if you are researching Blackmores and Devon. It mentions Somerset but includes villages which are on the Devon border.

Hiya mhb,
I've just posted a picture of eight guys on the Armed Forces board. I think it was taken in the early 1900s.
One of the guys has the surname Blackmore. I'm sorry there is no Christian name. My grandfather was born in Topsham, spent a few years in Ireland before settling in Barnstaple where my grandmother managed a baker's shop and my aunt worked for a timber merchant.

mhb 2347 / Mark: we need to talk. We are most definitely related.
My mom is Lorna Blackmore b. 1934. Her father was Kenneth Blackmore b. 1907 & mother Elsie (Crosby) b. 1903. Kenneth's parents are Richard Blackmore b. 1867/1868 and Susan b. 1869. Richard Blackmore's father is Silas Blackmore b. 1839 & mother Mary b. 1838. Silas Blackmore's father was Richard b. 1801 & his mother was Mary. Kenneth Blackmore's siblings are: Gerald b. 1899 died May 31, 1916, Terence b. 1901, Marjorie b. 1904, William 1914, as well as Colin & maybe 1 other son that died as very young babies. All of them were born in England. A lot of them were born in Devon & Middlesex area.
If anyone else out there is related to this line of Blackmores please get in touch with me ---> *
Thanks :D
