Hi Jamison,
Looking at the census I see parents appear to be George and Elizabeth. (although I don't see Jane with the family) Was Jane single when they emigrated?

Hi Jamison,
Looking for an arrival I find a Thomas aged 15 arriving in 1855 (looks like with his father George) If so there does not appear to be a Jane aboard but I note Thomas's father George was a Shepperd in 1841 and a Farm lab - back in Wiltshire in 1851 so it seems to fit. (although if this is dad he seems to have put his age down a bit.
http://www.theshipslist.com/ships/australia/telegraph1855.htm
The man on the Telegraph has been wrongly enterred in the BISA. We have encountered him previously in some very complex lookups (getting more interesting by the minute)
This is the BISA entry which seems to be re two George HENDERSONS
HENDERSON George born about 1796 Wex IRL died 30 May 1867 Adelaide SA arrived 1855 aboard the TELEGRAPH 0cc Piano Tuner, Labourer res: Hindmarsh rel Prot
married unknown children son, 2 daus
and here is the other entry re these peoples George who was a piano tuner married to Regina
HENDERSON George arrived by 1842 residence Thebarton rel Rc
married Regina Maria
Children Theophiley Chas 1842, Claude 1844
There are some long threads about this George (He was a piano tuner and that is his death date in 1867, though it took a bit to get to it)
Cheers Kris :)
-
Thomas and George arriving 1855 fits.
The other George`s do not think so.
I have George dying 1875 in his Daughter`s house (Poore)
-
OK here is the most detailed thread re George and Regina. Perhaps this George was not from Ireland. We know from the census your George was and they are definately not the same person.
http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,360528.0.html
and the Wexford Board
http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,364198.0.html
so we now have a possible death here
HENDERSON George died 24 Apr 1875 Kilkenny Dist Ade 65 484. He was aged 81 status not recorded relative Charles POOLE son in law residence Kilkenny
Unfortunately no Poole/ Henderson marriage or births in SA to try to see if this connects. There is a death for a Mary POOLE husband Charles but looking at births I think she was a Mary ROWE so no idea who this Charles POOLE may have been I am afraid.
Cheers Kris :)
-
Aha Charles POORE and Elizabeth HENDERSON did have children in SA ;D
-
It should read Poore not Poole as recorded - spelling
Georges daughter was elizabeth who died in 1887 who married a Charles Poore in Wiltshire England
-
Yes the reason I had not found it previously (re the other George) is it is indexed as POOLE and I hadn't found a POOLE HENDERSON connection
BISA
POORE Charles born about 1814 Wiltshire arr 1853 aboard the MAGDALENA 0cc Labourer residence Kilkenny religion C/E
married Eliz born about 1821 Wiltshire
children Mary about 1843, Ed about 1846, Jane about 1852,Charles 1863-1932
their arrival
http://www.theshipslist.com/ships/australia/magdalena1853.htm
Good to finally sort out some of the confusion in the BISA re this other George Henderson being mixed up with yours.
Cheers Kris :)

Hi Jamison.....if this George Henderson is the gent I'm trying to get info on, then I can forward heaps of Hendersons to you, from then to today. Did Elizabeth come to Australia with him and Thomas. What ship did he embark on and when. The father of Mary Henderson nee Parrington came to South Australia from London on the Cygnet in 1836. Charles' wife Mary nee Pallant is also void of any history this end.

Hello Big Fella

Hello Again
I have the Hendersons arriving at different times in Adelaide SA.
George and his son Thomas arrived 1855
George`s dau. Elizabeth arrived with her husband Charles Poore (as his 2nd wife) in 1853
George`s dau. Jane arrives with her (1st) husband Francis Pearcy in 1851
George`s son Charles arrived with his (1st) wife in 1850 (my line from second wife)
Does that fit your info Big Fella !!!
Cheers - Jamison

Hi Jamison.....thanks for your reply, it's not my Family Tree as such, I am a Volunteer Gardener for the Aged and one of my clients, she's 80 wanted help to find her ancestors before (as she puts it) goes loopy like all her siblings. They all suffer Dementia, and she is the only one left with an incredible memory at the moment. Her line branches off with Thomas (father George) who married Mary PARRINGTON at Crayfish Creek Port Elliot in 1859. Does this fit in your Family...........................
Regards "Big Fella"

Big Fella
...........It fits !!! It fits !!! It fits !!!
How do we connect !!!
Jamison

Hi Jamison....it certainly does......is it permissable to send the document ( 3 pages) via e-mail rather than clogging up this space.
Regards "Big Fella"

Here we go Jamison........hope this works, I'm the original village idiot when it comes to this stuff...........

Big Fella
Thanks for that !!!! It has filled in a part of my tree !!!
I am not really technically minded myself with such things.
Hey, l wish to thank you for getting in contact with me through this site.
Yes, George and his son Thomas came out much later than the others.
So Goerge`s wife Elizabeth (Downer) died then before 1855 or before the 1851 Census.
What else does the client of yours have (eg.) Photos of family members etc. she would like to share with another family history researcher.
Tell her that she has done a wonderful job in remembering and has the right attitude - of putting pen to paper before it is too late.
Regards - Jamison
-
Mate.....will be seeing her tomorrow to update her. I'll ask about the photos etc. I'm rather proud of myself for converting that file, haven't done that before.......I will stay in contact, I have some more information thats just come through. Need to get my head around it and sort it out. Bed time now 12 midnight here, big day tomorrow."
Regards "Big Fella"
-
Ok Big Fella
Pass on regards from a distant cousin to her.
Hear from you soon !!!
Jamison
-
Wow - what a great connection - do let us all know what else you find!!
Big Fella where are you located (if you're happy to share that). I think volunteer gardening sounds like a great way to give some of your time - and now you've found your client some more about her family as well as a tidy garden!
Judith
-
Hello Judith
Yes, it is a great connection !!!
With that info. l was able to find more on this sight.
1) Jane Poore (mother - Elizabeth Henderson - sister to Thomas)
2) Helen Mary Carr (gr.father - Thomas Henderson - brother to Elizabeth)
But do not know how to draw the threads together though ???

"Hi Judith.....located in Adelaide South Australia. I'm so grateful for all the help I have received from this site and others, to help realize the "dream" of this dear lady. Now we have to teach her how to use the Family Tree program which will downloaded on to her Computer. Statistics are fine but it's the lives of the family which make the tree. Unfortunately (and she is aware of this) the Paternal line cannot be taken as "gospel" until the facts are verified by Certificates. But, she is one very happy lady, thanks to you all."
Regards / "Big Fella"

Big fella
"the Paternal line cannot be taken as "gospel" until the facts are verified by Certificates."
What do you need verification of in the paternal line - is it to do with the Hendersons !!
Jamison
-
Hi Jamison.......will try to send more info to you. If the "lady" wants to get the Certificates , she can. and I'm sure whe will ask, but I think she has enough family knowledge to connect the bits. Although her "Tree" has become somewhat extended in the last few days.

See file for update
Jamison

Hi Jamison.....been busy collating all the "stuff" on a Family Tree Program for my dear ol' soul. She is over the moon and is now eager for more. But more importantly, she has now reconnected with some family members who have been estranged for years, what more of an outcome could you wish for. Now my friend, do you have any information on Charles (Dad) in England, DOB, Parents, where born etc and the name of Charles's juniors 1st wife.
As you requested, I asked about any old photos and there doesn't appear to be any around except one of her Grandmother. Did you know that all the Hendersons "down the line" were all involved in the Salvation Army Movement and apparently were the first to "bang the tamborines" here in South Australia. Hope to hear from you soon.
Regards "Big Fella"
-
G`Day Big Fella
I am sorry l do not have any more info. on Charles`dad - George or his wife Elizabeth.
If you take a peak at the attachment in the above posting above that is all the info. l have on the Hendersons that far back.
Who is this dear ol`souls grandmother ? A good photocopy is good enough !!!
Now that you mentioned it my Grandmother mentioned something like that a long time ago.
Cheers

"Hi Jamison.......the info you have supplied is excellent. Thankyou. I'll try and get a photo copy for you, so down the track we need to work out how to get it to you."

Big Fella
Nice one !!! We know that it exists and copying it is the best thing to do in case it goes missing.
To find the info. lt did take a lot of searching and guess work to find but l have it and l am happy to share it with others.
I do have more to add to it over time - like families (from other branches) and photos of people from Margaret`s branch - the internet is a wonderful tool.
I do not want to be to pushy but where does Margaret fit in !!!
Regards Jamison

"Hi Jamison........here's the info you are looking for and explanation"
