Does anyone know if these lists include ships coming from Canada in 1940, carrying men of the C.A.S.F?
My Grandfather and others sailed from Halifax on 7-24-40, and arrived in Gourock, Scotland 08-02-40 as part of the Royal Hamilton Light Infantry.
Any help would be appreciated.
Many thanks,
Scott

We may be able to match those dates to a particular convoy number.
Please confirm the dates of departure and arrival.
There is an excellent convoyweb site.

Thanks,
Here is a scan of the entry in his service file.

Have a look at www.convoyweb.org.uk
Let me check the date, but he may have been in Convoy TC.6 or TC.7

go to www.convoyweb.org.uk/tc/index.html
Convoy TC.6 fits the dates.

Thankyou for this. :-)
Are the passenger lists availiable for these voyages?
-
I do not know. But you could google the names of those troop carrying ships and see if there are any references to that convoy.
There were a lot of escorts for that convoy.

No such luck.. perhaps someone with an ancestry account can verify if shipping lists are availiable for these troop voyages in the catalogue I referenced in the subject line.
I just want to see if it is worth it for a subscription.
Thanks,
Scott

I do not think they are available. However, It is safe to assume that TC.6 as listed on convoyweb was the convoy he sailed in. Was it just 5 or 6 Troop transports named on that convoy?

As a rule troopships did not have passenger lists. A few officers may be mentioned in the individual convoy reports.
You would need to go the the National Archive to view this.

I have attached movements of BATORY to confirm info from convoy.web
