Title: William Sausby 59th Regiment
Post by: samual11 on Wednesday 08 December 10 10:44 GMT (UK)
Hi All

Looking for information of William Sausby - he served in the 59th Regiment of Foot in India c 1830's.
He married a local women named Dorothy ( native women) surname unknown.
I know they had a least 3 children, Ann, Harriet and John. Apparently all born at Fort William, Bengal.
Looking for surname of Dorothy as well.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers
Tracy

shows what is presumably Ann (in 1818, mother's name unlisted) and definitely John (1827, by which time he's listed as a pensioner and his wife as Dorothy, "native").
John's burial is shown under "Sawsby"

 - his discharge papers are listed here. He is indexed as "Sausbie".  Born Hatterfield, Yorkshire, served in the 78th and 59th regiments, 1804-1826, discharged (in 1826) aged 40.
