Hardest family to search for has been my Great Grandmother Isabella Mathieson. I went on a completely wrong tangent of finding her only to get her marriage certificate and find out I had the wrong Isabella.
For the life of me on every single site I can find, I can not find when her and her parents immigrated to Australia. I believe it is between the end of 1886 and 1888... but definitely before 1904. I have tried all spellings, but nothing. As it is stated on her marriage certificate she was born Aberdeen Scotland, then it means that they definitely did not immigrate till after her birth in 1886.
If anyone has any information, please message me. Thanks.
Below is what details I do know and possible other bits.
Isabella (Hardie) Mathieson B:25 April 1886 in St Nicholas, Aberdeen City, Aberdeen Scotland
D:11 Feb 1974 in Dee Why, New South Wales (Domestic Servant at time of marriage)
M: 7 Mar 1904 to James Rawlings - (Seaman at time of marriage) at The Centenary Hall, York Street. Sydney.
Both families were living around the Millers Point area (McMahons Point now) North Sydney District.
Both familes the fathers, were Labourers/Coal Lumpers.
Possible parents are as per marriage certificate. William Mathieson. Coal Lumper and Mary Allan (whom is listen on their marriage certificate as actually being Mary Hardie and not Allan as listed on Isabella's marriage cert).
William Mathieson married Mary Hardie at 15 Ann Street, Aberdeen on the 22nd Sept 1883. I have not found any other children prior to Isabella's birth in 1886, but I am sure there would be some. Later when in Sydney, I think they may have had a further 4 children, but not entirely sure they are connected.
William 1888
Walter Charles Charmer 1892
Elizabeth 1896
Laura E M A 1902-1902
I do not know if they immigrated straight to New South Wales or to another Australian state first, but can not find any coming to Australia at all with their names or variations of it.
Mary looks like she was the illegitimate daughter of Isabella Hardie born around 1865. And possibly Isabella's parents were George Hardie and Mary Kennedy, she being born approx 1844.
The entire family does seem to come from the Aberdeen Area, but it is hard to find much information, especially immigration.
Any help whatsoever will be appreciated... and yes I have looked through Scotlands People for most of my information, but it doesn't always seem to connect everyone.

Not sure if this is yours or not but the areas and names seem to be interesting.

Not sure if this is any good or not - may just confuse you further

Thanks anyway, but unfortunately not my Mathieson.

Hi, can you give us more information off William & Mary's marriage certificate please?
The more details we get the easier it will be to track them down. Have you managed to find both of them in the censuses from birth onwards?
Regards,
flst

Hi,
I didn't look for the census of William or Mary, as my search was of Isabella, and due to her parents marrying in 1883 and Isabella born 1886 and they apparently immigrated 1887/88 then I don't believe there will be a census with her on it. I did look for the family on th 1891 census, but didn't find anything. I have found a Mr and Mrs Mathieson and their 3 children arriving Sydney in 1888, but coming from New Zealand and I can't find them coming from Scotland to New Zealand. As previously stated, I don't know if Willam and Mary had any children before Isabella, too many Mathiesons born between 1883 and 1886 to check all of them, my budget doesn't allow.
As for the marriage certificate of William and Mary it is:
22nd September 1883 at 15 Ann Street, Aberdeen.
William Mathieson 21 - Boiler maker - Carpenter - Batchelor - 107 Gallowgate Aberdeen.
Father is William Mathieson - (something) Merchant - deceased.
Mother is Margaret Geddes or Giddes (something) Mathieson, M. S Davidson.
Mary Hardie 18 - Hay Mill worker - 15 Ann Street, Aberdeen.
Father not listed
Mother is Isabella Hardie, Hay Mill Worker.
That is all the information that I can read properly on the marriage certificate.

Hi, I think you and I share an ancestral line. I have an Isabella Hardie b1830 in Elgin, moray Scotland who had an illegitimate daughter Mary Valentine Reid Hardie born 1865 in Aberdeen. The father of Mary was a Hugh Leith. Isabella's parents were William Hardie and Margaret Russell. I am descended from Isabella's sister Margaret b 1815 hi married William Gordon.

Hi Ness,
Isabella (Hardie) Mathieson (Is Hardie a middle name)?
Have you tried "Soundex" option for surname as it may come up as Mathewson or similar?
Also, you could try the "Forenames that begin with" option with only "Is" as her name may be recorded as Isobella & not Isabella? It may even be recorded as Bella?
I would also use a couple of yrs either side as mistakes are made throughout life with dates.

To Susie C
Hello,
I would love to know more about Margaret and her family.
And thank you for the extra information.
I haven't done much research this past year, due to family health problems, but would love to finish all my family trees for my children to have.
Are you on ancestry by any chance? I am on there as 66Ness.
Vanessa.
