On ancestry awhile back found a entry for Edith Mary Neale born on the 2-8-1909 Pilning Gloucestershire. Parents Charles Neale and Ellen Williams.
To day found a baptism entry on familysearch pilot site for Edith Mary Neale, same parents and area but different date 25-1-1907.
One must be wrong but which one.
Due to financial reasons I do not subscribe to ancestry so cannot check their entry.
Any help would be appreciated.

there is a death for a edith mary neale 1991 she was born 19th feb 1905

edith born in 1907 has the middle name marie not mary, the only other i can see was born 1901 can't see the other one?

Free bmd only gives the 1907 birth registration and there's no death recorded between then and 1909; so I reckon the 1907 info. to be more reliable than that for the 1909.
Did you perhaps make an error when looking in Ancestry and recorded another date or whatever? ;) Perhaps some Chatter with an Ancestry account could check it out. I'm unable to do so - my wife's computer is unavailable and she has the account.

If I were you I'd find out everything I could about each Edith Neale - it looks like there were at least three - and would value Ancestry less than other sources, if independent.
Mary is no use at all (thousands of Mary) and Edith - humm.
How many people lived in Pilning at that time and how many were Neal/Neal/Niel etc?
Try to find sisters/ brothers and descendants until you have a pattern detailed enough to distinguish one Edith from another.
Patience often wins in the end - often unexpectedly

Ancestry has a tree with an Ethel Mary Neale, dob 22nd Novemner 1909 in Gloucestershire - but no citations.
There is also a birth for Ethel Mary Neale, December qtr 1909, Thornbury.
Can't see any Edith Mary Neale for 1909

Looks like there were indeed an Ethel and an Edith.

This reads as though you found it on someone else's tree. If so, you would be wise to follow esdel's advice. Treat it with extreme caution until you can verify the details yourself.
There have been numerous posts (and complaints) on RootsChat about the innaccuracies on trees published in this way :o

So; never accept information from others (and that includes trees found anywhere) unless verifiable and reliable source information such as PR's, censuses etc. is also given. Even if you are unable to verify the data yourself, it may help others when you help them in later years.

Thanks for your help and advice. I heartly agree with you about accepting information from familytrees, especially on ancestry reason I never keep mine on that site.

The two first names are different and distinct, far more then Mary vs Marie
If I were you I'd assume two different people until you have collected far more info on each and verified it by means that you have reason to think are independent of each other.

I was trying to show that I thought they were 2 separate people, but sisters.
Given Tati's previous post, I think Helina's best bet would be to check the 1911 census

So it looks as though family search has got Edith's middle name wrong
I do not think neceessary so, on my father's side he had 5 Aunts, 3 where called Eleanor Eliza, Elizabeth Kate and Eliza Ann. Maybe they liked the name Mary/Marie.
I,ve searched the 1911 index found Ethel Neale born 1910 so gather the 1909 birth might be correct. note no middle name which would of been helpfull.
