Title: COMPLETE Lookup please: Littleover, Derbyshire - BOND
Post by: anitamc on Saturday 04 December 10 21:55 GMT (UK)
If anyone has access to Littleover parish records I would appreciate a lookup.

Interested in BOND family, especially christening of Elizabeth BOND, born about 1800, who married Francis MORTON in in Willington in 1820.

The IGI is very gappy for this parish.   There are some viewable records for between 1810-20 which show children of a John and Mary BOND which may be connected but I am not sure.

Thanks, Anita

Hi Anita

I know this is an old message, but I thought I would let you know what I've got.

I have a copy of the book The Registers of Mickleover (1607-1812) and of Littleover (1680-1812).

The Bond family are listed in the Table of Inhabitants which was drawn up in 1811.  The head of the house is John Bond, Labourer and Mary his wife.  They have five children, Elizabeth aged 11, William aged 8, George aged 5, Mary aged 3 and Hannah an infant.

The parish registers show a marriage between John Bond, husbandman, and Mary Page both of Littleover married 22 November 1796 in Mickleover.

There is a christening of a Fanny Bond on 19 October 1797 in Littleover.

The christenings of Elizabeth and William are not recorded in either parish so I presume the family moved away for a short time.

George was christened on 10 November 1805 in Littleover.

Mary was christened on 21 February 1808 in Littleover.

Hannah was christened on 16 September 1810 in Littleover.

I hope this is useful.

Thank you very much Lisa. Very helpful indeed. :)

Can I just clarify about the christening record of Fanny Bond in 1797, did it list John and Mary as her parents?

Many thanks,

Anita

Hi Anita

I'm glad the information was of some use to you.  As Trish has already said, Fanny was the daughter of John and Mary Bond.

I could not find a burial for a Fanny Bond, so she didn't die before 1811 in Littleover or Mickleover (although she may have died elsewhere), but there is a mention of a Frances Bond, servant to Thomas Dawes, a farmer, in the 1811 table of inhabitants, but unfortunately there is no age.

Just found a Thomas Tooth, 27 DEC 1840 Blithfield, Stafford, England , son of Matthias Tooth and Frances on IGI.

Thomas is still with Aunt Mary Bond in 1871 census and lists birthplace as Newton, Staffs
google maps reveals this is .9 miles from Blithfield

I am becoming more convinced that Fanny is Frances, and likely the same one from 1811 that Lisa found.
