Hi all
I am trying to trace the ancestors of my great great grandfather George Henry Hardy born circa 1838 in Wolverhampton. He married Catherine Wilkes who lived next door to him and they married in 1861.They went on to live in Aston Birmingham.
If anyone has any info to help that would be great
Thank you

From the 1871 census George (no middle name) is a 33 yo locksmith born Wolverhampton.
This matches to a 23yo lockmaker in 1861 listed as brother in law to head of household John Hardy a 37yo keymaker born Wolverhampton. John's wife is 31 yo Matilda RG09 1988 104 6
Going back to 1851 on HO107 1986 379 41 there is a 13 yo George, spinner listed as son to head 69 yo John a locksmith born Stoke, Salop. John's wife is 52 yo Patience, born Leeds.
In 1841 the reference for this family is HO107 999 4/46 25 (all as Hardey).
Thus it seems that his father was John and his mother was probably Patience - there is a birth registered Wolverhampton March quarter 1838 17 287 which may well be him.
None of these records have a middle name, so I may be barking up entirely the wrong tree :-\

Do you have his marriage certificate? That will give you his father's name and occupation, to make sure you are on the right track.

Hi Isobelruss
Thanks for that-yes I am certain that is the correct one-although Catherine has been mis transcribed as Caroline.

Dear Mr Chadwick
Thank you so much for the information and your kind offer.
I would very much appreciate you trying to see if their graves are present and if the headstones are legible..
I notice that on the various records there seems to be a discrepancy on their relative ages and was wondering why that could be,transcription errors or what ??
Thanks
Paul Hughes
