Hi
I am looking to find a birth of a Paul Richard DAWSON around 1890/91 New York USA. Parents are Samuel Constantine DAWSON and Catherine DAWSON.
Both parents born around 1859 England.
Also looking for immigration of this family from Sydney NSW to England via New York where this Paul Richard DAWSON was apparently born. Maybe born at sea!!
Other Siblings travelling also were
Samuel Dawson
John Owen Dawson
Catherine Alma Dawson and Hugh Francis Carlin DAWSON
Any help with this will be most appreciated.
Kind regards
Karen.

Thanks for these, it is the family I am looking for. I am still unsure where Paul Richard Dawson was born. The family seemed to have traveled between England, Sydney NSW and New York from what I have seen on the passenger lists.
They were on the 1891 english census but not Paul and then traveled to New York in Sept 1891 without Paul again.
I am wondering if he was born at sea? Is there anywhere I can check this please?
Thanks
Karen.

The family on Ancestry is the right one also but Paul Richard Dawson father was Samuel Constantine Dawson not Samuel James Dawson as stated as I have Paul's marriage certificate and it states the father as Samuel Constantine Dawson. Will have to double check some of there sources.
Paul marriage states he was American town of New York!
Thanks
Karen.

Here are 3 male Dawson's born in New York City .... but you would have to send for the Certificates to verify:
Richard Dawson 28 Sep 1891 35545
Male Dawson 16 Oct 1891 36583 (I notice a female Dawson was also born on this date Cert# 38582-twins?) and this birth was in Brooklyn.
Male Dawson 30 Aug 1892 34019

August 1892 from New York to Liverpool on the ship Britannic:
Kate Dawson age 33 WIDOW
Saml Dawson age 12
John Dawson age 9
Kate Dawson age 5
Caroline Dawson age 2 (this could be Carlin, right?)
Robt Dawson age 10 months
Do you think this is your Dawson family? and if it is they have the infant listed as Robert. Did Samuel Dawson, the father, die in the USA?

Hi there :D
I also thought that birth for Richard Dawson 35545 might be the one, they used Richard instead of Paul Richard, not sure.
Carlin is a male so Caroline wouldn't be an option I wouldn't think.
Yes that looks light to be the family in NSW. The names are certainly right.
I didn't know about Mary dying in infancy so this certainly helps. Thank you.
No Samuel the father apparently died in Sydney NSW 1924. So they traveled a fair bit by the looks of things. Must of had money.
I know Paul Richard died in NSW.

Hi
Can someone please tell me how I go about ordering a USA birth certificate please and how much are they? Thanks.
Or does anyone have access to births in New York 1891 - 1894 for Paul Richard DAWSON.
Male Dawson 30 Aug 1892 34019 is a possibility - Father Samuel Constantine Dawson and mother Catherine Dawson nee Garrity or she could be Kate.
Any help is much appreciated.
Kind regards
Karen.

Hi Karen,
Paul Richard Dawson was my second great uncle. My great grandparents are Samuel James Dawson and Catherine Garrity. Can I be of any help?

Hello and thanks for your reply.
I am helping a friend from work with this family tree of hers. Her great grandfather was Paul Richard DAWSON apparently born in New York but we are unable so far to find this. A couple of possibilities to trace though.
I am seeing you mention Samuel James DAWSON and Catherine nee GARRITY: Is this Samuel the same person as Samuel Constantine DAWSON? Did he change his name to Samuel James DAWSON?
When you say Paul Richard DAWSON is your 2nd great uncle where do you fit in please?
We know Paul was born in New York as we have his marriage papers to Lydia, this also states his father as Samuel Constantine DAWSON as does his enlistment papers.
Hoping to hear back from you.

Hi Karen,
Paul Richard Dawson was born in New York in Aug 1891. The family stopped of there on their way to England. My grandmother believed that her fathers's middle name was James. His middle name does not appear on any records that I am aware of. They all just say Samuel Dawson. Paul Richard Dawson is the brother of my grandmother Mary Ann. Paul and Lydia Cahn had a son Paul Frederick Manson Dawson who I think was living at Greenacre when he died. He was born 29 May 1915. I am sure that this the family you are looking for.

Hi
Yes this does sound like the same family then. Just needed to clear up the difference with the middle name.
Is there a birth cert of Paul Richard Dawson. The family seemed to of traveled a bit because I do have them coming from Plymouth to Sydney NSW 16 June 1881 on the 'Nineveh'.
Also have them from England to New York.
Two sons of Samuels and Catherines died in France WW1 Lancelot J 1918 and Constantine H 1916 but apparently buried in Rookwood Cemetery Sydney.
Do you have photos of the family.
Where is Greenacre to please?

Hi Karen,
No I don't have a birth certificate for Paul. The family travelled for Samuel's business and they went to England because Catherine's mother was very ill. They stayed there till she died and then came back to Australia. The two sons who died in the war are buried in France not Rookwood. Yes I have photos. Greenacre is near Bankstown an outer suburb of Sydney.
