Title: Battalion Identification - 4th Ro. V Battalion
Post by: kicksfour on Thursday 02 December 10 21:22 GMT (UK)
Hi can anybody identify this Battalion?

4TH RO. V BATTALION

I think its the 4th Royal Veterans but not 100%.

Its regarding  a soldier - William Fordyce, he was based in Ayr c1821, I'm trying to find his service record.

Many thanks, Iain

Hi Iain

That looks correct.

If you search the National Archives Catalogue you do not get a hit for him. That should mean that his service record is not on Findmypast. Where does the regiment information come from?

Ken

I have the info from a christening record of his son in Scotland.

Where else could I look?

Thanks, Iain
