Title: Croft family Thorpe-completed thanks
Post by: ryeone on Tuesday 30 November 10 20:12 GMT (UK)
I am looking for the marriage of John Croft (occasionally Crofts) to a Elizabeth in Thorpe Surrey in the later 1820s or early 1830s. I'm interested in any info that the record may contain. Thanks to anyone who can help.

There is this one although it's a bit later than the dates you gave.

Marriage Register
Thorpe
Surrey

John CROFT of this Parish and Elizabeth RIDDICK of this Parish were married in this Church by Banns this 15th day of 1837.

John signed and Elizabeth made her mark.

Witnesses were John RIDDICK ( made his mark ) and Eliza RIDDICK.

Thanks Karenlee. I realised that I made a miscalculation when I quoted an earlier date for the marriage so I'm sure that you have the right record. I'm really grateful for your help. :)

Hi
I came across this post many years after it was posted. I am researching my wife's family, which includes a connection via DNA to the Croft,Riddick line. I did find the Crofts very confusing as I think some of the children were born out of wedlock with surname Riddick and middle name Croft. Then later children born following a Croft Riddick marriage. My particular interest is in the Croft line that moved up to South Manchester, where they continue to confuse me. Anyone have a connection to Bernard Croft born 1905 Chorlton?
