George Greenhough married Hannah Hoyle at Cawthorne on 6 Feb 1815 and had four children of whom I am aware, all baptised at the Wesleyan Chapel in Cawthorne :
Harriet, baptised 14 Jan 1816
John, baptised 21 Sep 1817
Sarah, baptised 22 Feb 1824
George, baptised 9 Jun 1830
They all then seem to disappear off the face of the earth so I should be interested to know if anyone else is researching Greenhoughs in the Cawthorne area.

I took a look at the 1841 census out of curiosity. There is a family matching the names you give living in Stockport, Hyde.
George age 45 labourer
Hannah age 50
Harriet age 25 cotton weaver
Hannah age 15 " "
Sarah age 15 " "
George age 11
No John though.

Thank you.
They obviously didn't disappear off the face of the earth - I just need new specs!
I have looked on FreeBMD for Cheshire but there are no marriages or deaths for any Greenhough or Greenhow.
I did find a marriage of a Sarah Greenhough registered in Wortley in 1845 so I wonder if they came 'home'.

One of the problems is that I have seen several different spellings of the surname Greenhough including Greenhow and Greenhaugh and, on one occasion, possibly Greenhalch.
Thank you for your help and I now have something to go on if and when I resubscribe to Ancestry.
