Hi,
It seems I am not very good at deciphering the writing on these two documents.
Can anyone help me on the parishes identified in these documents.
I am guessing the parish related to William is Collessie, but I have no idea on Margaret's.

Hi Joe
Can you give the Parish numbers from the original OPR please. It would help identify things better.

Hannah Forbes of Kettle?
David Mcrabies of Monimeal?
Margaret Dingwall of Kettle?
William Smart of Colefaieth

Further to my message above ... ScotlandsPeople have a marriage for them on 30 December 1796 in Collessie, although the records you've attached seem to show 1797 :-\
Can you give the Parish numbers from each of the records and that way you'll get better assistance.

The IGI shows them as Collessie and Falkland :)

First of all thank you all for your assistance.
PrueM,
It seem you, IGI and the Scotland People's site are all in agreement.
Falkland wins the prize. :)
Now the hunt begins for the parents of Margaret.

I did a search on "Colefaieth" and have not came up with anything.
Does anyone know if there is a place or area by this name?
-
It's not "Colefaieth" - "Collessie" has been written with only one "l" and the first "s" is written in the (now) old-fashioned long style :)

Joe,
William Smart and Margaret Dingwall are my wife's 4x Great Grandparents
William's Parents are John Smart and Janet Peadrie or as we really think Petrie but because of the Scottish Brogue many names were mis-pronounced. we have William's birth on 23 December 1772 and a couple of possible death dates from 1816 to 1821. We do have the marriage of John Smart to Janet Peadrie and it is the 25th October 1766. We also have 3 other children and they are Helen b 23 Aug 1767, Elizabeth b 23 Jul 1769 and John b 5 Apr 1778. With the gaps there we also believe that there may be some more children.
We have not found anything about Margaret Dingwall yet.
These are 2 possibles from SP with the preferred being the one from Ceres because of the names. William and Margaret had a son John and a daughter Janet
1 19/05/1765 DAINGWAL MARGARET JOHN DAINGWAL/JANET HUNTER F CERES /FIFE 415/00 0030 0029
2 29/09/1765 DINGWALL MARGARET WILLIAM DINGWALL/CHRISTIAN WILSON FR230 F SCOONIE (FIFE) /FIFE 456/00 0010 0302
There are several on the IGI but none really seem to come as close as the one from Ceres in 1765 which would still make Margaret 42 when Janet was born in 1807. This does seem unlikely but it is not impossible. It may be that her birth was not registered or not easily available yet.
I hope this is of some help and if you want you can PM me and I will give you my email address and that of my wife who is the direct relation.
Cheers, :)

Alan,
I have since contacted ScotlandPeople and have looked at the marriage entry for William and Margaret.
On IGI it shows both William and Margaret from Collessie, but when looking at the documentments and talking to a representative of SP we have agreed that:
Birth
William was born on December 23/1772 in Collessie,
Marriage
William was in his parish of Collessie
Margaret's parish entry is done in shorthand and appears to be F'nd, which could be Falkland.
My linage
William Smart married Margaret Dingwall/John Smart married Barbara Lyon Hood/John Smart and Isabella Reekie/David Smart and Margaret/Donald Smart married Lillian Andrew (moved to Canada)/My Parents (living)/Myself and my wife
If you have access to Ancestry.com, I have over 2300 of our ancestors found so far.
I would love to talk to you further.
