Hi,
I am trying???? to trace the above relatives and would be most grateful if anyone can assist.
Daniel Murphy was the 2nd son of Michael Murphy & Margaret (nee Gribbins) who emigrated to Australia in 1851.
Michael & Margaret had 12 children (10 born in Australia) and we have info on all but 4 of them namely Daniel born 1851, William born 1859 , Elizabeth born 1866 & Micahel born 1868.
As far as we know Daniel married an Emily Cartwright in 1875 in Melbourne (Victoria) but that is all we know so any further details on any family member would be greatly appreciated.
Kind regards,
Murphy Girl.

Hi,
Have just found out that the Daniel Murphy who married Emily Cartwright is not my Daniel Murphy which is a shame but now I am looking for any help in tarcing the correct Daniel.
Details I have of him are as follows:
2nd Son of Michael & Margaret Murphy (nee Gribbins??) who emigrated to Australia in 1850 on the Maitland which arrived in January 1850 so am assuming Daniel was born in Limerick in 1849 as he was listed as "infant" on the passenger list.
I know he was alive in 1892 when his mother passed away in Melbourne, Australia but have been unable to trace him on any BMD registers .
Daniel is the last of 12 children of Michael & Margaret we have been researching and the only one we have been unable to find any info on , since my last post we have found out details of William, Elizabeth & Michael so I would be most grateful if anyone has any clues about him or could suggest where I can start looking for him as it would be wonderful to have all the family accounted for.
Kind regards,
Murphy girl.

Hi Mum mum,
Thanks for the reply and the info.
Can I ask a silly question and that is did all these marriages take place in Australia ?
The Daniel who died in 1910 in Sunbury could be a possibility but with "parents unknown" it makes it that bit harder to search any records.
Once again many thanks, any piece of info no matter how small somtimes provides the missing link.
Kind regards,
Murphy girl.

Hi,
Those three marriages are from Victoria, I have included the childrens names as sometimes childrens names follow a pattern within a family. Are any of them familiar, there was no Michael though.
If one of the brothers died in Queensland we possibly need to look there and NSW as well.

Do you have a death date - even a death year for father Michael? Long shot but you could check the PROV Wills. There lots of Michael MURPHYs so you would need a date or an approximate residence. Obviously there may not have been a will at all.

Hi Mum mum,
Thanks for the info re the marriages of said Daniel Murphy's being in Victoria I will try and look them up to see if any details relate to my Daniel Murphy. The children's names in each case are not really similiar to other family members but that may not mean anything.
Hi Judith,
We have a copy and date of Daniel's father Michael's will but it gives no clue to Daniel in fact he is not even mentioned, only the girls in the family and the youngest son are listed. The 4 older brothers are not included in the will at all, though one of them did witness it.
Thanks once agin to both of you for taking the time to reply, I am sure my Daniel will surface one day.
Kind regards,
Murphy girl.
