Title: Help with birth certificate! COMPLETED
Post by: monkers on Thursday 25 November 10 19:54 GMT (UK)
Can anyone tell me what the last three letters U.S.D would stand for on this birth certificate issued in 1888

The address is in Mount Pleasant in Liverpool, and I suspect the child went into the workhouse or orphanage there fairly soon after birth.

I was just wondering if they stood for something significant.

Think U.S.D. = Urban Sanitary District.

Looking at various Birth certificates, after the address are RSD, USD and SD.  SD =Sub District. The R and U may  stand for Rural Sub district and Urban Sub District.
