Title: Any help pls re: Thelwell family 1841
Post by: ktkeith on Wednesday 24 November 10 13:14 GMT (UK)
Hi there,
I'm trying to locate a family in the 1841 Census.
They were living at Church St, Malpas, Cheshire in 1851.
The family should be;
William Thelwell 33
Elizabeth   "      26
Sarah        "        2
Mary          "        months
Any help finding them would be gratefully recieved
Keith

It's the ages in 1841.
William was a shopkeeper/gardener.
There should also be a son, William aged 4 in 1841
Thanks

Hello ktkeith,

I have connections to this family and will see what I can find for you. It is probable that the name has been mistranscribed in the 1841 census.

I have some Thelwell family in a later census that are shown as Thalwiser!

The 1841 census should have ages rounded up, or down, to the nearest 5 years. So William Thelwell would be shown as aged 35, in theory anyway.

Jo

Sorry, ktkeith, I have drawn a complete blank too. The family of William Thelwell that I had was the one married to Anne and they lived in Faddiley and Acton.

I have tried some name variants but nothing comes up for them. I think it is under something that is so way off it doesn't appear.

Jo
