Hello,
I am a Czech by birth and my military historian friends from Prague are finishing a book about the fallen Czechoslovak soldiers of the 1st Independent Czechoslovak Armoured Brigade in the UK.
The book is illustrated also with the photographs of their headstones.
We are missing one, namely of Karel (name) Gavel (surname), of Czechoslovak Army, T2545, who died on 3rd Aug 1945 at the age of 30 and is buried in Astwood Bank Cemetery NW of Tower.
He has the white CWGC headstone.
Would any of you on the Forum living nearby be so very kind as to take a photo of the headstone and forward it to me?
In return, I can do similar service to you both in Czech Republic and in the Ypres Salient.
Thank you ever so much! Milena

Might be worth posting this on www.ww2talk.com too. They have people who are taking photos all over the country. Have you tried contacting the Astwood to see if they can take a photo for you...

The only cemetery in or near Astwood Bank is the Edgioake Cemetery. There are only two CWG from WW1. Nothing from WW2

A search of the other two hundred plus graves did not include your man.
The local Parish church St. George and St. Mathias Astwood Bank contains no graves.
Are you sure you have the correct location. There is no "tower" at Edgioake only a small brick built building which looked like large shed.
OK sorted. Astwood Cemetery not Astwood Bank. I will try and take a look sometime this week

It would seem that the original poster did not bother to come back. For my own satisfaction, could you confirm that the grave is located at Astwood Cemetery in the City of Worcester.
Thanks
