Title: Albert Roe POW WWII
Post by: avidog on Sunday 21 November 10 15:45 GMT (UK)
Can anyone help me find out about my Uncle Albert who I believe was a POW in WWII as I recall my dad relating to me. Albert Matthew Roe born 1899 Southwark   He was in the Royal Worcester Regiment No 13549, . He was awarded the British War Medal and became a police man in Harrow when he left the army. He was also a trombonist bandsman in both services.
I filled in the Red Cross form on-line weeks ago but have heard nothing.

Hi,

Welcome to Rootschat.  :)

When I was searching for a POW I filled in the Red Cross form online;  it took several months for a reply so don't give up hope just yet.  Unfortunately my soldier was not in their records.

Thank you for your response. I've been told the same on another site so I guess I shall just have to be patient.

Checked through all my lists and drawn a blank.

No A M Roe listed as prisoner of the Japanese.

Gnr A R - Pte A E & Tpr A W 1943 Italy

Gnr A R & Pte A E Germany 1944

Gnr A R - Pte A E & Tpr A W  Listed in Germany 1945

Could be that he was never a P.O.W. or that he was repatriated before September 1944.
