Can you help me please find more information on Andrew McCrindle he left Ayrshire Scotland for Canada .He is supposed to have married there then headed for America.
He was born about 1838 and is believed to have arrived in Canada about 1859 married and later in the 1860's went to America.
I would be very grateful if someone could look him up for me.

Is there anything in particular that are you looking for? There are many US census records from 1860-1920, among other things, for free here: https://beta.familysearch.org/

Hi Jessie,
Do you mean the one listed with John and Alice in 1900 ???
Sandra ;)
-
No the daughter of Andrew and Rebecca born in 1870
Thank you
Jessie
-
No, sorry - I played around with spelling variations but could'nt see a marriage entry for Rebecca and Charles or any further Census entry. Unfortunately, it is the type of name which could possibly be mis-transcribed. >:(
-
Thank you for your help maybe that is why I couldn't make head not tae of it.

I think it could be a Russian/Polish name. There was an entry on the same page for a marriage of someone called David Salle in 1955 Indiana and the mothers name was Margaret Boskovitz but I could'nt find the Salle family to check Margaret's date/place of birth out ???

Sandra,
Perhaps you can help me with this . The file that you found the children of Rebecca McCrindle and Charles ? children's births is that only accessible in Massachusetts or would I be able to go to a one of the places they have here near my home in Aberdeen and see it there. Would it give more information. I would be very grateful for your thoughts on this.

Hi Jessie,
It was the Census that gave me the childrens names, I did'nt see any individual birth records. You could visit the Family History Centre in Aberdeen - the address is North Anderson Drive Aberdeen, Grampian, Scotland. The opening hours are Wed, Fri and Sat 10:30-3:30; Tues, Thurs 6:30-8:30. I have a friend in Scotland that uses one of these centres and can put you in touch with her if you wish. With her experiences she would be able to guide you on that.
It is difficult to say for that time period what information the birth certificates would give you
Perhaps this link would help
http://www.familysearch.org/eng/library/fhc/frameset_fhc.asp
This is another Massachusetts BMD site that is sometimes useful but there were only 2 McCrindle births listed - of course there could be others under a slightly different spelling.

Hi Jessie,
I hope you don't mind me coming in on your thread but I have been to one of the centres a good few times. The staff are very helpful but I suggest you phone up before you go first of all to check the opening times and secondly to find if they have the file you would like to access . Before you phone write down all the information you can get file number everything it will make it much easier for you on your visit if you have all this with you .
Hope you enjoy your visit . Please just ask if I can help in other way.
Regards,
Suzilad

Hello,
came across this a couple of months ago in a thrift store. Is this what/who you were looking for?
It seems to be a baptismal cup for an George Shaw Mc Crindle. The hallmarks are unusual/unique.
Since, I am new here, cannot use the private messaging until I submit three posts. Can send you photos.
