Title: S.A. Immigration Lookup: Catherine HOURAHAN

Catherine  Hourihan’s likely emigration from County Cork to South Australia was in 1882-3; she would have been 18 years old, and born in 1864.
Can anyone check shipping records to let me know exactly which ship she travelled on, and if she travelled with any other Hourahan relatives?

Hi Maggie,

There are no marriages in SA that I can see fir the name HOURAHAN. There are 2 under HOURIHAN

ROYALS James John 25 single father Raymond ROYALS = HOURIHAN Catherina 23 single father Timothy HOURIHAN 8 Oct 1887 RC Church Glenelg Dist Ade 153/1203

The other is Beatrice (father James)

James and Catherine had 4 children in SA - in each instance her name is listed as Catherine HOURIHAN

Catherine HOURIHAN arrived in Pt Adelaide on the 6 Jun 1882 aboard the CLYDE. There do not appear to be any other HOURIHAN'S aboard.

ROYALS John Jas parents Raymond and Bridget nee TRACEY born 10 Mar 1862 in SA and died 25 Feb 1930 buried Brighton SA residence Nth Glenelg
married Cath born about 1862 and died 8 May 1914
child Winifred Myrtle 1893-1909

Thankyou very much for the shipping information.. it was my one remaining question about Catherine. I have all the other Royals information collected over the years, and Steve and I are related and have been in close collaboration since April this year, thanks to the Rootschat site . I have several spellings for Hourihan, hence the variant I used.

Hi Maggie,

arrived Port Adelaide 6 June 1882 aboard the CLYDE departing Plymouth 23 Feb 1882

Catherine HOURIHAN 20 domestic servant Irish is the only information available from the passenger list.
