Title: Trying to find James Cummings

I have been struggling for some time with this.  I can't find James Cummings 1864 on any census before 1901.   I know he was married to Jane Birch in Birkenhead, Cheshire.  The 1901 census states he was born there but it has been suggested he may have been born in Scotland.
I hope someone can help.  Thank you

When did he marry?

What were his parents names?

Hi

Is the marriage in 1892 between James Cummings and Jane Keeling Birch?  They married at St Mary the Virgin, West Derby, Liverpool (not Birkenhead), Banns read on 9, 16 and 23 October 1892

Edit:-  if this is them, there seems to be a blank on the transcription of JC's father's name on the marriage certificate

scrap that - the marriage certificate gives the following details

Married - 28 November 1892.   His father was James Cummings, Farmer and hers was Thomas Birch, Blacksmith.  James & Jane were living at 6 Vicar Road, West Derby and he was a Coachman.

Thank you for your reply.  Yes that is him, I have found them on the 1901 & 1911 census.  I have found Jane his wife on earlier census but not James.

His father was James not sure about his mother, possibly Alice.
