Hello Suffolk Folk!
I am trying to find a birth for Priscilla Chandler (she may have had the middle name Rose) in Framlingham. I would be interested in any info anyone could give me on Chandlers in Framlingham, as I've just discovered I have one of them!

Here is what I have been able to learn regarding my Chandler roots. info@boardreader.com
Your Priscilla (born abt 1836, christened 12/16/1839) appears to have been the sister of my GGGrandfather Samuel Spalding. Both were children of Henry Chandler (born abt 1797, died 1877) and Jane Spalding (born abt 1811 and died abt 1896, and from whom my GGGrandfather received his middle name). There were a few other siblings as well, as can be seen below.
My GGGrandfather served with the 16th (Bedfordshire) Regiment of Foot, and had been sent to Canada during the Fenian uprisings. I guess that he liked Canada so much that, when he was discharged, he returned with wife Anne (Kelly) and children in tow – settling first in Montreal, then Ottawa – from where all my most recent , and many current, relatives hail!

Incidentally, I am the only Chandler of the line born in the United States (New York City 1954) – my dad became a US citizen and my mom always remained a Canadian!
I copied the below data from some off-link regarding the Gordon/Humble Family tree. I don’t know where they fit, but it seems that Dorothea Chandler may have been one or the other.

Thanks again! No, I didn't know about Priscilla Partridge (so, I am a member of the Partridge Family now, it seems! [a well known 70's US TV sitcom, if not familiar with such!]. Thank you again, Peter - getting all the way back to the early 1700's before Dorothy is fantastic! I am surmising that your genealogy and my own must intersect somewhere if you have this early Chandler information. I do believe that some of my ancestor's siblings may have gone to Australia as well as Canada - so, if I can shed any light on anything, please let me know!

1) There was a Samuel Chandler baptised to John & Elizabeth Chandler at Cratfield on the 17th February 1758. In the 18th century the Chandler family were to be found clustered around the following area, Fressingfield, Wingfield, Mendham, Metfield, Weybread, Withersdale
2) My records state that Samuel Chandler was aged 71 years when he was buried in the churchyard of St Andrew, Wingfield on the 9th November 1825 so he was born circa 1754 & NOT 1748!
3) Samuel Chandler of Weybread married Dorothy Barnard on the 28th June 1781 at All Saints, Stradbroke, Suffolk
