Hello
I am looking for my Knifton family who were living in East Leake in the 1841 census. The mother and father were William Knifton and Ann (nee Walker). I believe William's parents were Robert and Elizabeth, but I only have this from the IGI.
Thanks
Sam

Hi Sam,
The IGI info is submitted so therefore actual Parish Records need to be checked.
Some Trees have ROBERT Knifton and Elizabeth JAMES as the Parents of William.
Robert/Elizabeth married 26 November 1782, Rempston, Nottinghamshire;

Marriage, Extracted Familysearch Pilot
William KNIFTON
Ann WALKER, 06 November 1826, Newton Linford, Leicestershire
http://pilot.familysearch.org/recordsearch/start.html#p=home
As they married 1826 and oldest Child is Elizabeth born c 1831 in 1841 Census
there may be other Children born c 1826-1830 who have left home by then.
Hopefully someone has access to actual Parish records :)

The only East Leake Christening I can find of a KNIFTON around 1806 when William was born is;
MARY Knifton, Birth 04 October 1810, Christening 28 Oct 1810 to JOHN/ELIZABETH
(Source Familysearch Pilot)
IGI has a JOHN Knifton, Birth 04 June 1812, Christened 02 August 1812 to the same Parents in East Leake.
As William names Children John/Elizabeth I think they are more likely his Parents but I cant prove it!
John could be a Son of Robert/Elizabeth.
Trish :)

Hello Sam,
From Notts Baptism Index -
Children of William and Ann Knifton at St Mary, East Leake.
Jane, Elizabeth and Samuel all on 12/04/1835
Emily born 18/08/1837, bapt 17/09/1837
Mary Ann bapt 29/09/1841
Frances born 09/11/1843, bapt 24/12/1843.
There are baptisms for William, Sarah and Elizabeth - children of Robert and Elizabeth Knifton - but they were all on 10/07/1821, East Leake.
Regards
Willsmum.

Thank you Willsmum. I hit the same issue as Sam all be it some years later

Sorry I dont see a problem;
quote from 2010;
There are baptisms for William, Sarah and Elizabeth - children of Robert and Elizabeth Knifton - but they were all on 10/07/1821, East Leake.
It was a mass baptism so children could be any age.
Elizabeth may have married John SHAW 22 Dec 1823
Sarah to John COOK 1 Feb 1825
1851 Sarah Cooke is born c 1805 East Leake
1841 we have;
Elizabeth Shaw 50 born in County
Rebeccah 12 not born in County
John SHAW was buried 07 Mar 1841 East Leake
1851/1861 Elizabeth Shaw is born c 1791-1796 East Leake
She was buried 21 Jan 1863 age 69
I can only see one child to John/Elizabeth Shaw EDWARD Bapt 03 May 1829 EL
Father a Pensioner in the Army
Would explain why Rebecca age 12 is born out of County
So looks to me that the 1821 Bapts were as adults.

No problem Willsmum. I was just saying thank you as your previous reply helped me out of a hole I'd ended up in, probably the same as Sam all those years ago.
