Can anyone do a look-up for an address in Headington, St. Clement parish? I'msearching for an Arthur Kaye Mawer who was living at 10 Bath St in January 1872, when he died. I'm hoping he might be there, or close by, in 1871. Many thanks!

Hi Robertsa,
I looked up my version of the 1871 census, the only Arthur Mawer i could find in Oxfordshire had the middle intial h and was 16. I also looked up spelling variations of the name but could not pinpoint anyone down to the area you stated. A lot of versions of 1871 are searched by name, age, birthplace and members of the household, i can't do it by address, but if you can give me any of this extra details I'll have another go. If he was old he may have died at a relatives house and been living somewhere else a year earlier.
Cheers

Thanks for looking - he's proving difficult! The Arthur H is his nephew, but this chap's full name was Arthur Kaye Llewellyn Tudor Mawer (!) and he was in his 70's when he died. Hid death certificate says he was a beerhouse keeper, late a bookseller's assistant. Unfortunately, Bath St is the only address I have for him.

Not that useful for you research but I had a friend that lived at 14 Bath Street. Her father lived there until his death last year. Her Uncle and Grandmother lived next door. It is a row of about 8/10 Terraced houses. When the existing tennents have all passed on the University will be knocking them down to build student accomodation I'm sure.
