Anyone help with the parentage of John Twigg (b 1820, Moira) please? He subsequently married Ann Ensor and lived in Measham. However, there is another John Twigg/Ann Ensor pairing in the Measham/Leicestershire area at around the same period just to confuse matters. I have a record of a John Twigg of around the right age in jail in Leicestershire - but this could be the John Twigg of Nailstone in Leicestershire.
John Twigg was a miner, but since I can find no record of his parents, I am beginning to think that he was either illegitimate or that his parents were itinerant. Measham was on the canal network at the relevant period and I have seen records of Twiggs (resident in Measham) working the canal as boatmen.
The John Twigg I am interested in had a number of children, including Selina (who subsequently had an illegitimate child called George - who married Agnes Selina Bale)

Thanks Carole,
I already have much of the information you kindly supplied but have now bitten the bullet and purchased a copy of what I hope is the correct marriage certificate.
