Title: My Shropshire Surnames
Post by: indiapaleale on Monday 31 May 04 23:30 BST (UK)
Here are my family names from Shropshire. Please drop a line if these names ring a bell.
Thanks,
India.

Bathus. Bathurst from the village of Clungunford.
Pugh from Clunbury.
Jane Price from Deerfold ( on the Hereford/Shroshire border)

The Bathursts emigrated to Ontario, Canada in about 1886.

I think my gr gr grandmother Ann Bathurst b1845 Clun 18 * married 1870 to Edward Dunn of Lingen, Herefordshire may be related to Bathus Bathurst.

I have some information which am still sorting which links the Bathurst's and Dunn's in Clunbury (Clunberry) to those living in Clungunford, Walsall Foreign and other parts of Shropshire plus Herefordshire and Staffordshire.

The info will be posted to my site once it's completed ;-)

I suggest that you enter your names into the Rootschat Surname Interest Table (devised by Berlin Bob!).

Hi Jan

Have you tried some ontario links as they list passenger ships entering Canada and the 1901 and 1911 census is online.  The archives in Canada is a good starting point as well.

Hi Jan/llody

Sorry did not read the first person to post to.  Apologies.  Getting excited again with the family history after a few months off!

Cheers
